About the Carson City Rural Child Advocacy Center
The Carson City Rural Child Advocacy Center (CCRCAC) exists to ensure that children who have experienced abuse or exploitation are met with safety, dignity, and coordinated care. Serving Carson City and seven surrounding rural Nevada counties, CCRCAC operates under the nationally recognized Child Advocacy Center (CAC) model. We bring law enforcement, child protection, prosecutors, medical providers, mental health professionals, and victim advocates together in one child-friendly setting so that children only have to tell their story once.
Our programs span a continuum of care, including crisis response, forensic interviewing, medical coordination, trauma-informed mental health services, and family advocacy, ensuring children receive comprehensive support from investigation through recovery. In rural Nevada, this infrastructure did not previously exist. CCRCAC is building it, with excellence, integrity, and deep collaboration.
We are seeking a strategic, steady, and mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization into its next phase of growth, sustainability, and accreditation.
Our goal is to ensure that every child within our catchment area who has been traumatized by sexual abuse, physical abuse or by witnessing homicide or domestic violence receives immediate, compassionate, and effective investigation, assessment, and if needed, mental health treatment. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for ensuring the organization consistently achieves its mission and financial objectives.

- Keep the Board of Directors fully informed on the organization’s operational, financial, and programmatic condition, as well as key factors influencing CCRCAC’s growth, accreditation progress, and community impact.
- Ensure CCRCAC complies with National Children’s Alliance (NCA) accreditation standards and maintains alignment with best practices for Child Advocacy Centers nationwide.
- Maintain strong inter-agency relationships with Nevada law enforcement departments, Nevada Child Welfare agencies, District Attorneys and Prosecutors, Victim/Witness Programs, medical and mental health providers, and community partners who comprise CCRCAC’s multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee CCRCAC’s day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including proper maintenance of confidential case records and organizational documents.
Financial & Grant Management Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and maintenance of sound financial practices that ensure CCRCAC’s long-term sustainability and responsible stewardship of funds dedicated to serving abused and exploited children across rural Nevada.

- Maintain strong relationships with the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Nevada and the National Children’s Alliance, ensuring CCRCAC remains connected to statewide and National child advocacy center networks and best practices.
- Represent CCRCAC’s mission, goals, and programs through public presentations, educational programs, community networking, and media communications, serving as a visible and credible advocate for children and families impacted by abuse.

- Ensure that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place to sustain CCRCAC’s services and long-term stability.
- Develop and promote initiatives that address self-care, vicarious trauma, and secondary traumatic stress among staff, recognizing the emotional demands of child abuse response and fostering a healthy work environment through regular check-ins, access to wellness resources, and opportunities for debriefing and peer support.
- Cultivate an environment of psychological safety, open communication, and teamwork by encouraging constructive feedback, mutual support, and a strong sense of camaraderie to help staff navigate the challenges inherent in forensic, advocacy, and trauma-informed work.
